- You avoid social situations because you are ashamed of your mouth and smile.
- You have difficulty eating properly due to the condition of your mouth.

Dentistry has come a long way. Sedation dentistry has allowed us to help you experience dentistry like you never have experienced before. Because you are completely comfortable, we can do years of dental treatments in one or two visits. We can replace crowns or dentures, restore sore gums to good health, whiten yellow or stained teeth, fix a chipped tooth, and more!
You are not alone and you no longer have to be afraid. Let us show you how to smile again. Once you’ve experienced sedation dentistry at Lake Oconee Dentistry, you’ll never be afraid to go to the dentist again.
What Should I Expect?
You’ll be sedated just enough to be unaware of the treatment, as if you were relaxing. When finished, you will feel refreshed with little or no memory of the appointment.
This is accomplished by giving you a small pill to take an hour prior to your dental appointment. By the time you arrive at the office, you will be very drowsy. If needed, we may give you some more crushed pills under your tongue to make you completely comfortable. No intravenous tubes or needles are ever used.
You can relax for hours in a comfortable room covered with a thick, warm blanket. You’re placed on special equipment to monitor your vital signs. After you are comfortable, our experienced clinical team and doctors will take care of your dental needs.
You will have little or no memory of the experience. You won’t remember the sounds or smells. People that have problems getting numb will find that sedation dentistry eliminates this problem. Complex dental treatments that often require six to eight appointments can be done in as little as one! All while you relax.
When your treatment is completed, your companion will return you to your home to finish you comfortable, relaxing day.
Call us for an appointment with a doctor to discuss your unique concerns.

Six Steps to Make You Smile
Step One:
- Make Your First Appointment - Simply call or email our office to schedule a Welcoming visit.
Step Two:
- Welcoming Visit - We gather information about your health and discuss with you your wants and desires. If you're comfortable, we'll take any needed x-rays and look inside your mouth. You'll never be judged or embarrased. We'll use this time to talk and answer your questions. If a follow-up visit is needed to discuss complex treatment, we will schedule it at this time.
Step Three:
- Preparing for Your Sedation Visit - We’ll give you a prescription for the medication you’ll need to take the night before (if needed) and the morning of your appointment. Instructions will have been provided as to what foods to eat or not eat, as well as instructions for your companion who will come with you to the treatment appointment
Step Four:
- Arriving for Treatment -
Your companion will bring you to the office. Additional medication will be given (if needed) to be sure you are completely relaxed and comfortable. There are a variety of medication protocols, but all medications are pills that have been safely used for decades. Some of these medications have amnesic properties that make it possible to remember little to nothing about your dental procedures. Hours pass like minutes as your planned dentistry is completed.
Step Five:
- Going Home With Your New Smile -
Your companion will drive you home with detailed instructions on what to do (and not do) for the next 24 hours. For longer appointments, we recommend taking it easy for the rest of the day. For shorter appointments, you may only need to limit your activities for half a day. We’ll be sure these details are communicated to you before you leave the office.
Step Six:
- The Following Day -
If you followed the directions, the majority of people experience no discomfort or residual effects from their dental visit. You can enjoy your new smile and all the compliments you will get!
